Martels Catering

Fernand Martel, the president and founder of Martel's, began his career in the restaurant/catering business 47 years ago. He is a French-Canadian who has lived in the United States for over 30 years, working primarily in large hotels and country clubs in Massachusetts, Florida and Georgia. Included in his impressive resume of fine establishments are the St. Lucie Country Club in Florida, Callaway Gardens and Hamilton Hall both in Georgia. In January of 1980, he opened his own French restaurant, Martel's, on historic Milledge Avenue in Athens, Georgia. Among his many accomplishments is his certification as Certified Executive Chef in 1978, and an induction into the American Academy of Chefs, the honor society of the American Culinary Federation, in 1982. Martel has served as president of the Athens-Clarke Chapter of the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association and also as president of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Culinary Federation. And now serving as President of The Rotary Club of Dallas Paulding County.
