The Spectrum Band

Spectrum is St. Louis’ Premier Variety Dance Band and has maintained a consistent performance schedule for over 20 years! They were selected by local event and wedding planning professionals as the “Best Band in Missouri” by a national magazine for two years in a row and you can read about it on their comprehensive web site as well as review all of the features that the band has to offer to you.

Spectrum is one of the most requested and entertaining professional bands in St. Louis for private parties. They are also one of the few preferred bands at the Ritz-Carlton, Chase Park Plaza, Coronado Ballroom, Kemoll’s Top of the Met, Windows On/Off Washington, Renaissance Grand, Sheraton City Center, Frontenac Hilton, Kemp Auto Museum, Orlando Gardens, and most of the local country clubs so many of their bookings come from recommendations made by the managers at these locations. They are now performing for selected dinner dance events at Kemoll's Top of the Met in downtown St. Louis. The owner of Kemoll’s (Mark Cusumano) stated that Spectrum’s first appearance was the most attended dance they have ever had! It was a pleasure to contribute to such a successful event for them and the band has now been asked to perform at the dinner dances on a regular basis. The manager of Spectrum band has been interviewed by Southern Living Magazine, Martha Stewart Magazine, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and St. Louis Bride Magazine as an event entertainment specialist so the credentials of the band are widely recognized. Enjoy pop, jazz, swing, Motown, Big Band, R&B, and 50's&60's to entertain and satisfy the most diverse crowd at any event. The band’s orchestration includes male and female lead vocalists, trumpet, saxophone, trombone, keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums to play all those great dance songs and keep the floor packed. Having nine musicians is not twice as loud as having four musicians but the difference is that the songs "sound authentic" with the proper instrumentation. The band’s primary format is the 9-piece band but they have many other options so it's easy to customize the evening to fit your musical needs. They've performed at events as small as 50 guests and as large as 5,000 while opening for ZZ Top during an IBM corporate event at the Scottrade Center so they know exactly how to make your event a tremendous success!

You'll notice that Spectrum’s schedule stays quite populated and they're very proud of that level of success as well as the many testimonials listed on the web site. They are not a young inexperienced "bar band" trying to graduate to performing at private events. They're also not the type of band that's been around for far too many years and sounding like elevator music on steroids (no offense to Major League Baseball). Spectrum is a full-time professional band and definitely not an agency that "builds" multiple bands by utilizing a variety of different musicians of varying quality for each performance. Spectrum does NOT adhere to the practice of sending out 2nd and 3rd bands under the name of “Spectrum” to augment their schedule. There are several bands in the St. Louis area that do offer multiple bands under the same name but they don't let the client know they are not getting the primary band for their event. That practice makes it impossible to deliver the level of quality that can only be achieved by offering a single band with the same quality musicians every time. NEW FEATURE! Spectrum is excited to announce that they have partnered with a professional sound and light company (Kent Audio & Lighting) to provide the best possible experience for their clients at no extra cost. Kent Audio now provides all of the equipment for the band including a state-of-the-art PA and light system, instrument cartage and set-up, as well as all stage preparations prior to each show. You are more than welcome to use our PA system and wireless microphone for your event. Spectrum is the only band in St. Louis that implements wireless technology to adjust the sound in the room! They no longer have a large mixer board positioned in front of the band since their sound engineer uses a wireless laptop computer to remotely adjust his mixer board by the stage and keep the sound perfect, i.e., not too loud, without anyone noticing that he's in the room. They can also take care of many other additional audio/video and staging needs you might have for your event at a reduced cost since we will already be on site for your event. Kent Audio & Lighting can provide: wireless lapel microphones for speeches, video screens and projectors, spotlights, large indoor or outdoor staging systems, and additional sound and lighting capabilities for any size venue. Also, a professional engineer is on site for each performance to ensure that the sound and lighting are perfect!

The band is a member of the American Federation of Musicians and they can provide proof of liability insurance upon request so please don’t hesitate to ask for any verification of credentials when you book with them. The leader not only manages the band, he also performs in the band so he makes every possible effort to attend each appearance to ensure that every detail is addressed.
