Business DescriptionThe Texas Gypsies have an eclectic sound, combining Classic standards, Parisian Swing jazz, Western swing, as well as our own originals from 3 CD's and a unique take on pop and jazz standards, with a look evocative of the '30s and '40s. The group features two guitars, violin and bass, but can add drums and a horn section for an even bigger sound. The music is at once earthy and sophisticated, appealing to a wide audience. This isn't music for jazz purists — this music makes you feel alive. Performing almost 200 shows a year, we are available for festivals, concerts and private events. Here is a link to a most recent review: http://www.occc.edu/pioneer/Archives/Feb_16_2009/exclusive2.html The Texas Gypsies are on the rosters two prestigious arts programs — the National Endowment for the Arts American Masterpieces touring program and the Touring Artist Program of the Texas Commission on the Arts, and have recently added another: the Mid-America Arts Alliance. As a result of these designations, your organization can apply for grant money to assist in bringing us to your performance venue or event. Some other honors are: * Named "Best Western Swing Duo or Group" by The Academy of Western Artists * Named "Best of Bands" by The Knot Magazine * Voted #1 act at Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival in 2006 * Featured on Fox KDFW-TV performing the theme song for "Good Day" morning show and also our original Christmastime in Texas for their Holiday promo * Debut CD "The Texas Gypsies" in 2005 Grammy® voting for "Best Jazz Album" * Featured band in the June 2007 issue of "International Musician Magazine" * Texas Gypsies Theme Song included in "Texas Music Project/Don't Mess With Texas, Vol. 3" CD |
