Business DescriptionThe Historic Alfred I. Dupont Building began construction in 1937 and opened its doors on Christmas Day, 1939. This 17-floor Miami skyscraper was completed at just the right time; it offered the promise of economic recovery and signaled the conclusion of one the bleakest decades in American history. The mezzanine level of the building, formerly a bank headquarters, became a Special Events Venue in 2001 after an extensive restoration in 1992 by its current owners; a more recent restoration followed in 2005. Details of the Depression Moderne style architecture—stunning at its inception—are the same charming characteristics that make the venue’s two ballrooms highly desired today. It may take all evening to fully absorb the beauty of the spaces - including hand-painted heart of cypress wood ceilings, detailed scroll work, and brass elevator doors adorned with bas relief native flora and fauna - but the stately aura surrounding the venue is lost on no one. Rather than a cavernous event space absent of character, the stately yet unobtrusive ’30s architecture complements each event it hosts. The building is a true Miami gem—a bit of New York in the heart of Miami’s central business district—and clients appreciate that their extraordinary moments will be forever intertwined with the nostalgia of The Historic Alfred I. Dupont Building. |
